HBCUs are once again contributing to the long legacy of musical talent in American tradition. The modern day version of the Fisk Jubilee singers, HU’s (the other one in DC) very own Afro Blue took America by storm last night with their soothing melodic acapella talents.
An amazing showing by yesterday’s lead vocalist Christie Dashielle and bass, Reggie Bowen, the group easily advanced to the next round. Continue to show the world the quality that HBCUs produce. With all students majoring in some form of Music or Music education, the fact that Afro Blue has made it this far speaks well of the School, the department, and more so of each individual participant in the group. Hats off to you and best of luck. Until the next performance check out their soulful rendition of Corinne Bailey Ray’s, “Put Your Records On.”
